TXT return with their seventh mini album The Star Chapter: SANCTUARY and the title song Over The Moon.

My favourites are back, baby! I always have to start these reviews by stating I’m incredibly biased when it comes to TXT because they really are my favourite 4th generation group (and I’m still manifesting them touching that EU ground for a proper tour) and I always pay more attention to them. Of course, this is easy to do because TXT honestly have such incredible, soothing discography, and have done so many different sounds and styles but have kept their recognizable melody that makes you come back to them time after time. This year’s Deja Vu has been one of the strongest boy group releases we’ve got so I’m rather interested to see what this new album brings. The concept tells me it will continue the softer, more subdued sound they have established this year but let’s see if I’m right – onto the review we go!

Over The Moon is definitely something new for TXT. I can’t put my finger on what the song reminds me of but it’s a nice combination of something nostalgic and modern. I think TXT, in general, are good at creating such an atmosphere in their tracks but Over The Moon definitely has a different energy compared to their previous titles. It’s softer, and gentler in its approach but still keeps a really solid melody until the very end which made me press replay right after my first listen. The concept definitely suits this kind of sound because it’s elegant and soft-looking, the somewhat blurry effect the music video sometimes has makes it even more dreamy. I can hear some nice r&b elements in Over The Moon and I feel like the boys’ vocals really suit this genre. I especially love the over the moon, over the stars post-chorus because it has such a lovely melody that has been stuck in my head throughout this entire review. I don’t think Over The Moon will surpass Deja Vu as my favourite TXT title of the year but it’s a really interesting direction for the group and I’m enjoying it a lot right now. I love that they try different sounds but still keep their special TXT musical touch. One of their best music videos colours wise though – I love the blue palette they have chosen so much.

Now, one thing about TXT is that they do not miss with their albums. They’re, in my opinion, one of the most consistent 4th generation groups when it comes to b-sides because not only do they always keep their style, but also offer a song for absolutely everyone – they’ve done upbeat pop, emo rock, bordering on some punk elements, ballads, you name it. Most importantly, they’ve done all of these genres so well. The new album The Star Chapter: SANCTUARY offers a soft sound in general but still manages to switch things up so the album picks up in energy. Heaven is definitely going to be one of the fan-favourites, but I have to say that, at least on the first listen, Danger and Resist have stolen my heart. Danger is definitely one of the standouts on the album for me, and, take this as the biggest compliment I can give, it genuinely reminds me of SHINee a lot. There’s just that special groove to this song that really awakens something nostalgic in me, and makes me want to get up and start spinning in circles. What you’re doin’ to me as a post-chorus hook was a brilliant move because it’s so catchy. Definitely make sure to check it out!

Another standout is, as I said, Resist – what an upbeat energy! I really like the way this song stands out from the rest of the album with its unique melody. The verses are smooth and flow so well, followed by a catchy chorus that gets stuck in your head immediately. I love it when TXT reach those high registers because my ears are blessed every single time. TXT might deliver fantastic title tracks, but their b-sides whole-heartedly steal the show every single time – if you’re not checking their albums out fully, you’re definitely missing out on some incredible gems.

TXT continue to pursue their own style and sound regardless of any trends and I love to see it every time.
