In Episode 19, the investigation into who attacked Detective Jeong Jeong-hwan continued. Initially, the team believed the assault was linked to the Voice Phishing Gang, but it was soon revealed that it wasn’t. Mu Jeong-ryuk took matters into his own hands and infiltrated the gang’s hideout. With his determination and strength, he managed to subdue the gang, clearing them of any involvement in Jeong-hwan's attack.
As the investigation progressed, it became apparent that the assault was connected to the murder of the girl found in the woods. In a shocking twist, the episode revealed that Professor Sim was behind the attack on Jeong-hwan and the girl’s murder. My initial hunch turned out to be correct. I was impressed by how the story led me to believe that Sim was the prime suspect. At first, I didn’t consider him, but his relentless focus on pinning the murder on the main suspect, coupled with the suspicious circumstances surrounding Yoo-bin’s girlfriend, raised doubts about his true intentions.
The episode also revealed a major plot point: Jang Tan-sik was the grandson of a famous restaurant chain owner. Although hints were dropped in previous episodes, this was the definitive reveal. Interestingly, Tan-sik went to his grandmother to ask for money to help Jeong-hwan, but thanks to Jeong-ryuk’s successful retrieval of the money from the gang, there was no longer a need for Tan-sik to ask for help.Overall, Episode 19 was a strong lead-up to the finale, building tension and setting the stage for the story’s resolution. We’re now left wondering how Yoo-bin’s storyline will conclude. Did Professor Sim also kill Yoo-bin’s girlfriend, and if so, why? Or was his obsession with pinning the blame on someone just a result of his belief that the suspect was guilty? One thing is certain: Professor Sim is definitely a complex character.
