In Episode 18 of Seoul Busters, the team continued their investigation into the murder of a girl found dead in the woods. Meanwhile, Detective Jeong Jeong-hwan, while at a bank, noticed a person withdrawing a large sum of money, which piqued his curiosity. It turned out the individual was a member of a voice phishing gang. Jeong-hwan arrested him, and the incident made headlines. However, the gang wasn’t going to let this go—they sought revenge on Jeong-hwan.
Later in the episode, Professor Sim's team tracked down the killer of the girl, only to discover that the same suspect was also connected to the murder of Dongbang Yoo-bin's girlfriend. However, I personally still have doubts about this conclusion. It’s possible that the suspect merely appeared suspicious but was actually innocent. Perhaps, just maybe, Professor Sim could be the real culprit. This was just my own theory, especially since Sim insisted the suspect was the killer, but the discovery of the same shoe print at the scene added more ambiguity, making it feel like a 50-50 situation for me.
The episode ended with Jeong-hwan’s wife becoming a victim of the voice phishing gang, and Jeong-hwan himself was attacked and left bleeding in the woods. The sudden turn of events was intense and overshadowed Yoo-bin’s storyline, which seemed to become a subplot in Jeong-hwan's battle with the gang. Still, I thought it was a strong twist and overall a compelling part of the story.
In conclusion, I didn’t have high expectations for how the series would end. I will be in awe if it turned out to have an unexpected conclusion.
