Love in the Big City (2024) - Episode 2 Review and Recap

Without solid ground, we feel weak, lost, and desperate. We become desperate in our actions, doing whatever we can to find what we truly want. We feel lost because we don’t know where we're headed, and weak because we lack something to rely on during the saddest moments of our lives. Episode 2 of *Love in the Big City* reminded me of this.

Honestly, I agree that finding eternal love is hard. We try to appreciate the people who love us, but sometimes they’re not what we truly need, and we don’t want to take anything for granted. Just like Go Young and Kwon Hyuk, who struggled with their relationship. Kwon Hyuk didn’t easily let Go Young go and did his best to win him back. But Go Young realized that they weren't meant for each other. Kwon Hyuk even changed himself based on Go Young’s preferences, but fate had other plans. Tragically, this led to Kwon Hyuk’s death in a car accident. At first, he drove carefully, but after the breakup, he began to drive recklessly, something Go Young had once encouraged. Kwon Hyuk changed himself to keep Go Young interested—a bold move, but it ended in a heartbreaking way for them both.

This episode also shows the struggles between best friends Go Young and Choi Mi Ae, as Choi Mi Ae’s relationship with her boyfriend and cohabitation with Go Young create tension. Fortunately, it’s resolved by the end of the episode when Choi Mi Ae gets married, and Go Young even sings at the wedding. Their closeness is the kind of bond we all want, especially since Go Young is a loner trying to find his way.

I relate to Go Young, a man who feels empty inside, hoping to fill that void but unsure how. I also believe that regardless of whether we're men, women, or nonbinary, we all have struggles. Life is hard for everyone; it’s not just about one identity or another.

I don’t know where this series will lead me, but I want to watch it as a reminder of life’s reality—that I am alone and hoping to see how Go Young’s story ends. Will it be a realistic ending, or a fairy-tale one that not everyone gets to experience?
