Brewing Love (2024) - Episode 1 Review & Recap

Episode 1 of Brewing Love dives into the world of beer sellers. Initially, I thought it would be about coffee, but it turned out to be all about beer.

The story begins with Chae Yong-joo, played by Kim Se-jeong, confronting a distributor who had taken beer on credit from her company, sold it at a discount to stores, and then tried to avoid paying the manufacturer. Yong-joo, a former special forces soldier, uses her skills and strength to handle the situation with ease.

Meanwhile, her company's local branch is on the verge of closing due to a beer created by Yoon Min-joo, played by Lee Jong-won, a CEO and brewmaster of his own brewery. Se-jeong's company wants to stock Min-joo's beer, but to fulfill the order, they need to shut down some of their branches.

In a humorous twist, Yong-joo and Min-joo meet unexpectedly at a carnival. Fate seems to be working in the background, intertwining their lives in unexpected ways. I won’t reveal more of the plot, but initially, I wasn't sure if this story would appeal to me. However, as it progressed, I found it quite enjoyable. What keeps me wanting to watch is the business setup, its challenges, and the company's fight to grow stronger against the odds. As a business-minded person, I find these aspects very appealing, even though I don’t have a business myself. Additionally, Min-joo’s impressive brewing skills spark my curiosity.

If I had to assess, I’m eager to continue to Episode 2. There are some series I struggle to finish even halfway through the first episode, but completing Episode 1 here shows it has both inspiration and entertainment value.

There are series I've dropped not because they were bad, but because they simply weren’t for me—the genre or cast didn’t resonate. This series, though, surprised me. Despite my initial hesitation, I’m excited to keep watching.
