Day6 Rip Off The Band Aid

Day6 return after half a century with new 9th mini album Band Aid and title song Melt Down.

Okay I have a confession to make but I can honestly say I do not think that Day6 and I match anymore it has been such a long time since I liked any of their title tracks and since they grew on me as well. I really wish I knew why but when I listened through this album on my way home from work today it was so hard for me not to skip most of these songs. They were just annoying in my ear but maybe it was because I was outside and irritated? I am really not sure why. I still love this group and the boys so let’s review.

Melt Down is much better when I listen to it with the music video and I bet most of you know that I am a huge rock enjoyer and I love rock music but Day6’s rock music hasn’t hit with me for a while. However, Melt Down is a lot better on second listen but I can tell I will need to be in a certain mood to enjoy this song to its fullest. It is great to have Young k and Wonpil blessing us again with their vocals and carrying a fun late summer festival kind of song. I love how colorful the music video for Melt Down is and it really fits the mood of it. Melt Down is fast paced, high energy and a lot of rock. Day6 are here to tell a story that they are so good at and I can tell the song has a lot of potential to grow on me with time. I already like it much more on second listen. Melt Down is a bit of a brain meltdown that’s for sure however, it suits the boys very well.

As for the mini album there were a lot of songs I skipped… or wanted to at least because they were just so loud. Maybe I will enjoy them more when I re-listen to them again. However, I can say that I really like the mood of Monster and the start of the song how mysterious it is honestly, it sounds really cool. Furthermore, my favorite song has to be probably Still There, I don’t know why but the added string instruments during the instrumental are just so soothing on the ear and the boys sound fantastic this has to be my favorite song by a mile on the album. Overall, a solid comeback probably on that I like the most on first few listens in a while. Maybe I am finding my way back to the boys.
