"Shooting Stars" refers to a South Korean sports variety show that aired on SBS TV. It was initially a pilot program that aired in February 2021. Due to positive reception, it began regular broadcasting in July 2021. The show's official title is actually "Kick a Goal," but it also gained popularity under the name "Shooting Stars."
The show featured celebrities who may or may not have had prior soccer experience. They were coached by legendary Korean soccer players in a fun and inspiring competition to promote women's soccer. The teams were formed based on categories like comedians, models, actresses, etc. The show even won awards including Excellence Award (Show/Sports) and Popularity Award.
Hosted by Lee Soo Geun and Bae Seong Jae, female celebrities and TV personalities form amateur soccer teams to battle it out on the soccer field. The teams are grouped based on the cast members’ background such as actresses, models and expat TV personalities. They are trained by four former players from the National Soccer Team in the 2002 FIFA World Cup, who join the show as head coaches. As the saying goes “the ball is round”, find out which team will win the first ever female celebrities mini-soccer league!
