After releasing "To. X" (Review) on November 27, 2023, Taeyeon made her first* comeback of 2024 with a digital single titled "Heaven."
*According to SM's financial report for the first quarter of the year, Taeyeon will be releasing a full album in the third quarter of 2024.

"Heaven" Review

"Heaven" is a nice dance-pop track that I sadly found to be "lacking" something probably due to its super short lenght -it's shorter than "To. X" which was also short-
The instrumental feels heavenly, especially at the start. Towards the end, the instrumenatl feels busy but still sounds magnificent; it's really well mixed. I love the verses and the outro of this song, but I found the beginning of the chorus to be a bit underwhelming -I did like it starting from the "You better follow my way~" part-.
The MV is great, the overall concept is interesting, I loved the teasers, and for some odd reason, when I finished watching the MV, Sweeney Todd popped into my head.
I have to be sincere and say that I didn't understand the plot of the MV much. According to the Cooking Class teaser, the recipe Taeyeon is doing through the video is "guaranteed to make your guest fall in love with you," but she leaves him at the end. Was she doing it for fun, or everything except for the end was in her imagination? -I have a tendency to overthink things-. My favorite scene in the video is the one where Taeyeon is looking at her guest while he eats at 2:24. I have to add that Taeyeon does a great job at acting in a creepy way.
Style-wise, Taeyeon sports three different looks through the MV. The one she wears the most is the black jacket dress with the giant shoulder pads. Although it's stylized like that intentionally, she is so tiny it looks like the dress is wearing her, especially when she is chasing the bear at 1:40; it looks hilarious. The second outfit she wears is a blood orange halterneck (?) with tiny black shorts that I would never wear; she mostly wears it during dance scenes. The third and final outfit is the pink dress that she wears at the end of the video. Sadly, it's obscured by a shadow, so you can't appreciate it much, but it's so gorgeous that I consider it my favorite outfit of the MV. ( If you are curious, you can see it in the teaser pictures like the one at the top of the page or this one).
