KARA Release Japanese Special Single "I Do I Do"

KARA (카라) -  I Do I Do

Review

"I Do I Do" is a mellow but otherwise bright and breezy pop track filled with passion and nostalgia, that encapsulates that mid-summer feeling. The music video displays the girls enjoying themselves in a beach during the days and dancing the nights away in a meadow with not a care in the world, in contrast to the lyrics which are rather sad and deeply personal.

The song features an highly addictive chorus and a groovy bass line, with the usual sing-talk-rap in the middle, but thankfully the rap-section manages to be unobtrusive and not overstay its welcome. Lyrically, the song is all about nostalgia, those sad and happy memories of the past, and hope for the future. Happy they are still together after all these years, but sad for the things, and most importantly the people, they lost along the way. It is rather obvious about what they are talking about, which makes it all the more sad.

Overall, "I Do I Do" is an impressive comeback with a catchy tune and deep thoughtful lyrics, but more importantly it is a declaration that the girls are still here and are doing well. And that's a powerful message indeed.

Release Info & Mini Bio

KARA, the legendary five-member girl-group formed by DSP Media and currently under RBW, released a new Japanese special single today on July 24, 2024 titled "I Do I Do" with the same-titled song as the single's title track. The single will contain two tracks, "I Do I Do" and "Hello", of which "Hello" was already pre-released on July 16, 2024. "Hello" was actually intended for KARA's 2013 fourth Korean full-length album "Full Bloom" and therefore it includes late member Hara's voice, making this an exceptionally special release. The physical release of the single will come out in seven CD versions, a Regular edition, five member-specific Limited Editions and a Japanese Edition Limited Release that will also include a Blu-Ray disc. This single album is the follow-up to the group's first special 15th Anniversary album "Move Again" (and the Japanese version of it) that was released on November 29, 2022.
