Red Velvet Show Us How Cosmic They Are

Red Velvet (레드벨벳) - Cosmic

Review

Red Velvet, known for their versatility and ability to experiment with different genres and concepts, has returned to the music scene with a captivating new mini-album "Cosmic", just in time to celebrate their 10th anniversary. The title track of the same name, "Cosmic", is a dance pop song that dynamically unfolds with colorful synth strings and disco rhythms centered on a cheerful bass guitar and drum sounds.

The music video for "Cosmic" draws heavily from the 2019 horror film Midsommar, evident in its thematic elements and visual style. The narrative follows the members as they become part of a secluded rural community, blending bright, idyllic settings with a sense of underlying unease and foreboding.

Lyrically, the song tells the tale of a traveler who stumbles upon a solitary star and discovers a love as vast as the universe. One of the standout features of this song is its vocal arrangement. Red Velvet's harmonized choruses are powerful and emotionally resonant, creating a rich auditory experience. The group's vocal prowess shines through, adding depth and texture to the track by their usual blending of different musical styles and concepts.

In conclusion, with "Cosmic", Red Velvet once again demonstrates their unparalleled artistry and innovation in the K-pop industry, by releasing a memorable track that seamlessly blends bright and eerie elements with strong storytelling and an innovative atmosphere. "Cosmic" is just another proof why Red Velvet is still on top after 10 years on the scene.
