After a nearly 3-year hiatus, Weki Meki has returned with their digital single "CoinciDestiny" - a bittersweet release as it also marks the end of their 7-year journey together in the harsh and unforgiving world of K-pop.

Weki Meki (μν€λ―Έν€) is, or more correctly was, an eight-member girl group under Fantagio. The girl-group debuted on August 8, 2017 with their first mini album "Weme" and today on June 12, 2024, after the release of their second digital single "CoinciDestiny", the group officially disbanded. This single is the follow-up to the group's fifth mini album "I Am Me." that was released way back on November 18, 2021 with the song "Siesta" as the album's title track.

Review
"Pretty Mob" mark's CSR's first release in over 14 months. A lot must have happened during that time for the group because they came back drastically altered. While I appreciate K-pop artists showcasing versatility, it seems premature for this new group to deviate so drastically from their established sound. They had a unique musical identity that set them apart, and instead of building on that and expanding their fanbase, they have delivered a rather mediocre track that feels out of place. Even though they have been inactive for 14 months both the title track and the B-side track feel rushed and unfinished, with a duration that barely passes the 5 minute mark for the whole single album!
Musically, "Pretty Mob" definitely has its moments, but they are far and between and not so impressive in the end. The instrumental on a loop on the background brings strangely to mind the classic song "Mr. Sandman". The tempo never deviates or flourishes, giving the track a monotonous feeling, like listening to a scratched LP that plays the same phrase again and again. The rap section in the middle overstays its welcome without adding anything to the arrangement, as if it was forced later in the production for the song to sound more hip and modern. Overall, "Pretty Mob" is not a bad track, but it is not a good title track for a rookie group either.

CSR (첫μ¬λ) the seven-member girl group under A2Z Entertainment that debuted on July 27, 2022 with the mini album "Sequence: 7272" made comeback yesterday on June 11, 2024 (even though the music video was released today for technical reasons) with their second single album "L'heure Bleue : Prologue" and the song "Pretty mob" as the album's tile track. The single album contains two tracks and the only physical releases will be two Poca (QR card) versions (μ΄μν and Anne version). This single is the follow-up to the group's second mini album "Delight" that was released on March 29, 2023 with "Shining Bright" as the album's title track, eve though the group released various remixes, covers and project songs in the meantime.
