NewJeans (뉴진스) is a girl group from ADOR (a sub-label of HYBE) that debuted on July 22, 2022 and consists of 5 members: Minji, Hanni, Danielle, Haerin and Hyein.
"How Sweet" is the title track of their double single How Sweet with "Bubble Gum" being the B-Side.
"How Sweet" Review
I have to be sincere and say that although I have liked previous releases by NewJeans ("Ditto" is my favorite song), I didn't like "How Sweet" a lot. I found the instrumental to be super loud and busy as if it was banging in my head and the vocals to be very monotonous through parts of the song, and in the chorus, it felt as if something was missing. The "toxic lover" parts are the ones that stand out the most in the song for me - maybe the full song will grow on me later -. The song would totally work for me if the instrumental was a little bit less loud.
Although the MV is cute, it feels like any of the other summer MVs from NewJeans (I might just be a winter!NewJeans fan). Some parts of the MV made me feel kind of dizzy - and by some parts, I mean this one -. The parts where they are dancing in the water with the black background where my favorite parts of the MV. I also really like the part where Hanni flicks off a bug at 2:57.
Style-wise, the girls mainly wear streetwear, and it looks really youthful (duh!). I have to say (write) that my favorite outfits are the ones Hanni wears, especially the one with the cropped green sweater and I also like the colorful rugby shirt that Haerin wears (as seen on the picture above).

"Bubble Gum" Review

OK, this is a bit awkward, but the reason I won't review the music video for "Bubble Gum" is because I have an awful aversion to people chewing gum and blowing gum bubbles (it's like nails on a chalkboard for me). I tried my best to watch the video, but I simply couldn't.
I really liked "Bubble Gum" much more than "How Sweet" and I think it's a superior song by far.
The song sounds really nostalgic and refreshing. The chorus reminds me of songs by the Bee Gees thanks to the high-pitched vocals, and that makes it sound more nostalgic. I could imagine this song being used in the soundtrack of a coming-of-age movie, it would work super well. Although I liked the whole song, my favorite parts were the "rap-talking" ones (like at 0:55).
